Every tree decision starts with a certified arborist
Mike Henry leads Goliath Land Management and sets the standard for how every job is planned and carried out. As an ISA Certified Arborist, Mike has passed the International Society of Arboriculture's certification exam, which covers tree biology, diagnosis, pruning, tree risk, safe work practices and the industry's care standards. Certified Arborists also have to keep earning continuing education credits to stay certified, so the knowledge stays current.
That training is what separates Goliath from a typical clearing outfit. Before a machine moves, Mike's approach is to understand the property: which trees are healthy and worth protecting, which show signs of decay, disease or structural weakness, and how clearing and grading will affect the root zones of the trees that stay. Homeowners in Bel Air and across Harford County get an honest assessment, not an automatic "take it all down."
Tree care standards on every job
- Assessment first. Trees are evaluated for decay, cracks, lean, root damage and target risk before removal or pruning recommendations are made.
- Industry best practices. Pruning and removal follow recognized arboricultural standards, not shortcuts that leave trees damaged or prone to failure.
- Root zone protection. When we clear or grade around trees you're keeping, we plan equipment paths and grade changes to limit damage to their roots.
- Invasive and pest awareness. We watch for problems common in Maryland's woodlands and tell you what we find.
Safety and operational excellence
Mike also runs field operations. That means crew training, equipment maintenance, job site safety and scheduling, so that work on your property is done safely, on time and the way it was promised in the estimate.
"Our job is to leave your land better than we found it. Sometimes that means taking trees down. Just as often it means knowing which ones to keep."
— Mike Henry, President
