A gravel driveway is only as good as what's under it. Dump stone on dirt and you'll have ruts by spring. We build from the ground up: clear and strip the path, shape a crown for drainage, lay a compacted base, and finish with the surface stone you want.

Because we also clear land and handle grading, we can take a new driveway all the way from wooded lot to finished lane in one job.

Your driveway needs work if

  • Ruts and potholes come back after every rain
  • Water runs down or pools on the driveway

  • You need a new lane to a building site, barn or back field
  • Delivery trucks and trailers struggle to get in
  • Edges are washing out or the drive is getting narrower

The arborist advantage

Why certified judgment matters here

New driveways often run right past mature trees. Cutting roots for a driveway base can kill a tree you meant to keep. We route and build drives to limit root damage, and tell you honestly when a tree and a driveway can't share the space.

Gravel Driveway Installation & Repair FAQ

What stone do you use?

Most Maryland gravel drives use a compacted crusher-run base with a surface stone on top. We'll recommend the right combination for your traffic and soil.

Can you fix my existing driveway instead of replacing it?

Often, yes. If the base is sound, regrading, restoring the crown and adding fresh stone can bring it back.

How do you keep a gravel driveway from washing out?

A proper crown, compacted base and somewhere for water to go: ditches or swales along the edges. Most washouts are drainage problems, not stone problems.
