Forestry mulching
- Grinds brush and small trees in place
- Leaves a mulch layer that limits erosion
- No burn piles, no hauling
- Minimal soil disturbance
- Stumps ground near the surface, roots stay
- Best for selective clearing, trails, pasture, invasives
Traditional clearing
- Trees cut, stumps pulled, roots raked
- Leaves bare soil ready for grading
- Debris hauled, chipped or piled
- More disturbance, more sediment control
- Stumps and roots fully removed
- Best for building pads, driveways, utilities
Choose mulching when
You want land opened up but not bare, you're keeping mature trees, you're fighting invasives, you're cutting trails or fence lines, or you're on a slope or near a stream where erosion matters.
Choose full clearing when
You're building a house, garage, barn or driveway, installing utilities or septic, or need bare soil for grading.
Or do both
Many jobs combine them: mulch the perimeter and wooded areas you're keeping natural, fully clear and stump the building and driveway footprint. That's often the best balance of cost and results. Land clearing · Forestry mulching
